Protecting the Products You Depend On

Resistance can occur when target pests are repeatedly exposed to the same chemistry, or products with the same mode of action. Greenhouses and other enclosed environments are particularly susceptible due to the relatively constant environment, low beneficial or predatory insect populations, and robust spray programs. But when used within a larger integrated pest management (IPM) program, IRM guidelines like these can help preserve and prolong the effectiveness of the products you depend on.

• Work with crop experts and consultants to identify economic thresholds and monitor pest populations.
• Consider the impact on future pest populations when selecting control measures and products.
• After treatment, avoid the use of insecticides with the same active ingredient or mode of action on subsequent insect generations.
• When possible, choose products with no or minimal impact on beneficial insect populations.
• Time insecticide applications to target pests at the most susceptible growth stage.
• Always follow label recommendations for application rates, methods and spray intervals.

And while resistance management isn’t all about the chemistry itself, the choice of insecticide does play a critical role. XXpire® insecticide from Corteva Agriscience, for example, uses two active ingredients with two different modes of action to control more than 39 common greenhouse and nursery pests, making XXpire insecticide a powerful and effective option for your IPM program.

Sound resistance management practices can help prolong the effectiveness of the insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides you depend on. Learn more about how the Corteva Turf & Ornamental portfolio can help.

XXpire® is not registered for sale or use in all states. Contact your state pesticide regulatory agency to determine if a product is registered for sale or use in your state. Always read and follow label directions.
