Doing More with Less – Delivering More Value Every Step of the Way

If the last few years have taught us anything, it may be to get the most out of every moment. From business to our personal lives, we’re all looking for value. Value goes beyond just the price we put on the things we buy. We’re all looking to do more with our time and get more out of our connections and our experiences.

As the 2023 season kicks off, Danziger is focusing on providing the best value for customers, defining, and delivering more than just the highest quality genetics.

Delivering on a promise of quality

Danziger’s state of the art breeding, growing, and trialing facilities offer a global view for annuals, perennials and cut flowers. Our research and development facilities in Israel create varieties that offer optimum grower performance and maximum flower power for retail and the end consumer. These genetics are then trialed and tested in gardens around the world to ensure our varieties are successful in each market.

Doing more with less

Danziger’s breeding focus is consistently in tune with nature. “When it comes to our breeding, we are looking for ways to work with nature to accomplish our goals,” says Mike Fernandez, global market manager for Danizger. “The overall goal is always to make things easier for growers without sacrificing a beautiful result. In this case, more means less labor, time and worry about crops.”

In recent years Danziger has launched even more genetics with naturally controlled growth, requiring less PGR application. Series such as VANESSA™ Compact Verbena, CAPELLA™ Petunia and COLIBRI™ Calibrachoa stay compact without added inputs, saving growers time and money.

The company pioneered first-year flowering perennials. Perennials that don’t require vernalization give growers more flexibility. Growers have the choice to provide the cooling period or grow series such as LAYLA™ Lavender, LUCILLE™ Leucanthemum and SUNSTRONG™ Erysimum right along with the annuals in a warm greenhouse. This flexibility often means less hassle and lower labor costs.

Danziger has also reinvented combination programs. “We took a look at the widely accepted practice in combo planting and wondered if we could do it better,” says Fernandez. After years of research the company launched the DuraBella® program, geared toward lower inputs for grower efficiency. “DuraBella® saves growers time and money,” he adds. “Each recipe requires only two or three liners to produce a beautiful hanging basket or container.” These low input combos finish in the same amount of time as a traditional 6 or 9 liner planting, require less water and have increased longevity in the garden center and for the end consumer.

Daring to be different

That dare to be different spirit has translated into many unique varieties and series. Breeders are given the opportunity to be creative in their work, and selections that may not fit any cookie cutter design are not immediately dismissed. Plants with more personality capture the attention of home gardeners and stand out at retail. Recent introductions such as RIMARKABLE™ Petunia, CAPELLA™ Hello Yellow Petunia, GOLF™ Craspedia and COLORFALL™, the first trailing New Guinea Impatiens series, have the wow factor to keep home gardeners interested and coming back for more. The AMORE® Petunia series, with five hearts on every bloom, gave petunias a story to tell and a reason for shoppers to look twice at garden centers. And the STARDOM™ Series, a labor of love project for one breeder, reinvigorated Jamesbrittenia as a home garden crop.

Connecting like family

One of the best ways to add value in business and other aspects of life is through authentic connections. Danziger is family-owned, with a commitment to developing personalized partnerships. “It starts with our employees and continues through every interaction we have with our customers,” says Ori Danziger, deputy CEO. “We pay attention to the needs of our employees, the concerns of the communities we’re in and the goals of our partners. We work hard to listen and learn. At the end of the day, we want our customers to feel they’re getting more from Danziger than just beautiful plants.”

For Danziger ‘Imagine More’ really is more than a tagline. What could more mean for you?
