Costa Farms’ Top-Performing Plant Varieties For 2015
Costa Farms announced the top performing varieties for 2015 from its Ultimate Plant Showdown Trial Garden in Miami. Sixty-eight varieties made the top performer list for 2015.
The Research and Development team at Costa Farms evaluates more than 500 varieties of annuals, perennials and tropical plants from breeders around the world. The trial period ran from June to early September. Plants grown from seeds or cuttings were planted the week of June 8.
Costa Farms shares its findings in an online publication, which divides the top performers into four categories that align with current housing trends based off a 2015 survey by Better Homes and Gardens, which asked 1,600 women about their preferences on topics such as outdoor living spaces, home exteriors, kitchens and the integration of smart technology and design in the home.
. The survey found that women, especially older Millenials, place importance on:
- Outdoor living spaces
- Personalized spaces
- Low-maintenance plantings
- Being environmentally friendly
