Sixteen Growers Honored For Recycling Water Bottles Into Plant Containers
Sixteen of North America’s largest growers are being honored for their green efforts and environmentally conscious practices. The Million Bottle Club, organized by McConkey’s rEarth plastic water bottle recycling program, recognizes growers who have recycled more than 1 million plastic water bottles into plant containers.
“The Million Bottle Club honorees have recycled 117 million bottles combined, keeping those bottles out of our landfills, oceans and streets,” says Dave Edenfield, business development manager for McConkey. “Choosing a 100 percent recycled, curbside-recyclable grow container made from water bottles is a positive impact on the environment that’s easy to make.”
This year’s Million Bottle Award recipients include:
20 Million Bottles or More
Armstrong Growers
Kawahara Nursery
10 Million Bottles or More
Colorama Wholesale Nursery
Do-Right’s Plant Growers
YC Nurseries
5 Million Bottles or More
Cal Color Growers
Iwasaki Bros., Inc.
Sidhu & Sons
1 Million Bottles or More
Smith Gardens
Certified Plant Growers
Hong’s Nursery
Van Wingerden Greenhouses
Pacific Growers
De Goede Brothers

The Million Bottle Award is based on the cumulative number of bottles recycled since the grower began using rEarth. “Some of these growers have increased their environmental impact exponentially as multi-year awardees and still more were close to their first million bottle,” Edenfield says. “We look forward to welcoming a growing number into the Million Bottle Club next year.”
