Drought-Tolerant Varieties from PanAmerican Seed, PDSI, Proven Winners, and Selecta One
When breeders develop new genetics, there are a lot of stakeholders that have a say. The breeding company may also have its own strategic plan, like starting to offer a line of houseplants. Growers are looking for crops that are disease-resistant, compact, and have quick crop cycles for more turns in the greenhouse. However, consumers have different goals in mind. For those who live in dry, hot regions, they are looking for drought-tolerant plants. Here are some varieties from PanAmerican Seed, Plant Development Services, Inc., Proven Winners, and Selecta One that stand up to drought conditions. Also, make sure to check out Parts 1, 2, and 3 of our drought-tolerant slideshows featuring additional plant breeders, and stay tuned for more variety slideshows here at Greenhouse Grower.
