Introducing the New 2026 Greenhouse Training Online Program

The Greenhouse Training Online program from the University of Florida IFAS Extension (UF/IFAS) has launched several new courses for 2026, beginning with “Nutrient Management 1” on Monday, March 2, 2026, with all courses taught in English and Spanish.

What’s New in the 2026 Greenhouse Training Online Series?

Additionally, in addition to the Plant Health Professional program and the Root Zone Expert program, the new Elite Grower program, a collaborative effort between the University of Florida (UF) and Michigan State University, tackles topics such as calculating production costs, managing a diverse team, and controlling plant growth and the growing environment. To pass, participants must pass any five of the following courses:

Lastly, the on-demand “Professional Irrigator Train the Trainer” course now includes six short “lunch and learn” modules (including one video and one hands-on activity) for growers to train their staff on proper watering.

Course participants will learn about:

  • Identifying and preventing pH and electrical conductivity (EC) problems.
  • Interpreting fertilizer labels.
  • Performing substrate-pH and EC tests.
  • Performing substrate porosity and wettability tests.
  • The essential plant nutrients for plant growth.
  • The fundamentals of managing pH and fertilizer levels.

“Nutrient Management 1” Schedule and Registration

The “Nutrient Management 1” course runs from March 2–27, 2026, and is part of the Plant Health Professional program. Available in English and Spanish, all course material is completely online and available at any time of the day. It includes pre-recorded videos, quizzes, and an interactive discussion board with Dr. Paul Fisher, Floriculture Professor and Extension Specialist at the University of Florida. Two new modules are activated each week during the course, for a total of eight learning modules. Instruction is at each participant’s own pace and time within the four weeks of the course, with a typical time commitment of about five hours per week.
