How You Can Support the Farm Bill as it Heads to the House Floor

The House Agriculture Committee advanced the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, otherwise known as the Farm Bill, in March with bipartisan support. Now, the bill is scheduled for floor consideration the week of April 27, 2026.

The policies in the 2018 Farm Bill no longer reflect today’s agricultural challenges. Specialty crop producers, greenhouse and nursery businesses, and the broader horticulture sector need updated risk management tools, stronger research investments, and modern plant health programs.

According to AmericanHort, the House Farm Bill strengthens specialty crop research, improves plant pest and disease programs, reauthorizes the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, enhances disaster assistance for tree and nursery growers, and supports innovation and automation to help address workforce challenges and keep the floriculture industry competitive.

Ornamental horticulture supports nearly 3 million American jobs and contributes $520 billion to the U.S. economy. A strong, updated Farm Bill is essential to sustaining that impact.

AmericanHort is asking all industry members to contact your Representative today and urge them to support the 2026 Farm Bill. Click here for a breakdown of what it will provide for horticulture. Your feedback is an important step in the process, and additional advocacy opportunities will follow as the legislation moves forward.
