Nature Fresh Farms Wins Big in Greenhouse Produce Competition

Nature Fresh Greenhouse Competition 2023Nature Fresh Farms took top honors at this years’ annual Greenhouse Competitions, receiving the Overall Coolest Cucumber and three Chef’s Choice awards, drawing attention to the importance of quality, flavor, and the eating experience.

Nature Fresh Farms claimed top honors in the following categories:

  • Chef’s Choice Awards: Nature Fresh Farms Yellow Seedless Mini Sweet; Nature Fresh Farms Crimsons; Nature Fresh Farms Mini Cucumbers
  • English Cucumber – 1st Place
  • Best Overall Cucumber
  • Mini Pepper – 1st Place
  • Roma Tomato – 1st Place

The Greenhouse Competitions, which celebrates Essex County for being the largest greenhouse industry in North America, is an opportunity for the greenhouse community in the area to showcase the best of their produce while also supporting an excellent cause – R.E.A.C.H. International, which raises funds to assist impoverished children and families in Uganda, Africa.

“We’re focused on delivering the best eating experience end to end; receiving top awards in almost every category within the competition is evidence of this,” says Quiring, adding that Nature Fresh Farms is committed to bringing awareness and education to consumers regarding the benefits of greenhouse farming and these Competitions are a way of doing so, while also being able to support a worthy cause.

Produce at the Greenhouse Competitions is scored by an expert judging panel comprised of professionals from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Affairs, grocery store produce managers, chefs and others who are given a specialized list of criteria upon which they rate produce during a blind taste testing.
