Understand Your Vulnerabilities
Hackers prey on those less-internet-savvy. Check to make sure you have a well-funded IT department and ensure that your employees are properly trained in the best internet practices.
It is also important to have your IT department check for network vulnerabilities. Keeping your WiFi routers and modems up to date on the latest security patches, as well as fixing any weak passwords, can go a long way to preventing hackers from getting into your business network.
Even if your business cannot hire an IT department, there are services that can provide the same networking monitoring for a small fee.
Create a Cybersecurity Plan
Now that you see the vulnerabilities in your current cybersecurity system, it’s time to buckle down and develop a new plan.
Work to ensure all of your network devices are continuously up to date. Also, be sure to keep backups of all your important data. You can also use software such as a virtual private network (VPN) or firewall to protect your devices online.
Make sure all passwords are strong and are never used more than once. It is also important to enable two-factor authentication. This will make it even harder for hackers to guess your password and gain access to your data.
