Two Horticulture Podcasts You’ll Want to Check Out

Our team at Greenhouse Grower is certainly excited about the launch of our Greenhouse Grower to Grower podcast last year. You can click here to access each episode, and subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts.

However, we also want to call your attention to some other podcasts that are well worth a listen. Here are two recent episodes that caught our attention:

  • “Indoor Ag-Con 2024 Takeaways” from Dr. Greenhouse’s The Doctor Is In” podcast. Dr. Nadia Sabeh and some of her team traveled to Las Vegas for the 2024 Indoor Ag-Con. She hosted an event and workshop, Vivid Canopy, with Nona Yehia, George Carter, and Thea Isabella Otto to celebrate diversity and inclusion in the industry. The conference itself has grown immensely since its start 11 years ago, with more than 1,500 people in attendance this year. Nadia caught up with some attendees to get their impressions and shared her own after the conference. Listen here.
  • “What’s the Deal With Peat?” from The Grower and The Economist. Peter Konjoian (the grower) and Michelle Klieger (the economist) share expert insights to help small and medium-sized growers adjust to the rapidly changing farm and food landscape as well as increase the productivity and profitability of their operation. There’s been a lot of talk about peat as regulations in Europe impacts its availability and the definition of sustainability. Peat is an important growth medium in greenhouses throughout North American and Europe. However, with the new restrictions there is demand for alternatives. In this episode, USDA Research Lead James Altland talks with Konjoian and Klieger about why North American peat is sustainable, how substitutes compare to peat, and what impact regulations and climate change will have on the price and availability of peat.
