First Medicinal Cannabis Greenhouse in New Jersey Coming Soon

The New Jersey Department of Health has approved a 37,000-square-foot greenhouse location in Boonton, NJ, from TerrAscend, allowing the company to begin its cannabis cultivation.

This will the first greenhouse in New Jersey to be awarded a medicinal cannabis cultivation permit. TerrAscend has commenced planting, and its first harvest is expected in the fourth quarter. The company expects to complete the second phase of construction at the Boonton facility in October, which will expand the company’s state capacity to 140,000 square feet with the addition of indoor cultivation and post-harvest manufacturing capabilities.

TerrAscend was one of six applicants to win the right to apply for a vertically integrated permit in December 2018. They were up against 145 other applicants at the time.
