Learning Opportunity: Plant Growth Regulators in Floriculture Production

Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are an incredibly valuable tool in a grower’s arsenal, helping to manage plant height, uniformity, crop timing, and more development standards. However, knowing how (and when) to employ PGRs is fundamental to their success in the field (or rather, greenhouse).

American Floral Endowment‘s upcoming webinar, scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as part of its ongoing Grow Pro series, will cover insights on the applications of PGRs and strategies for their implementation into everyday floriculture production.

The featured speaker for “PGRs for Floriculture Production” is Dr. Roberto Lopez, an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist from Michigan State University. His work focuses on the propagation and production of young plants (floriculture, leafy greens, and culinary herbs) in greenhouses, growth rooms/containers, warehouse-based facilities, and vertical farms. The main objective of his research is to “determine how light (quantity, quality, and duration), substrate and air temperature, and carbon dioxide in controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) production influence crop timing, rooting, yield, quality, flavor, nutrition, and subsequent performance.”

Willing participants can register for the webinar directly through Zoom or by visiting the Grow Pro Webinar series page on the AFE website, where information on future webinars in the series can be found. Recordings of all past Grow Pro webinars can also be found on the AFE’s YouTube channel.
