Compaqpeat has become part of the substrate supplier Pindstrup Group, following Pindstrup’s acquisition of the company. The investment strengthens Pindstrup’s position in strategically important growth markets and supports the company’s ambition to lead the industry toward a greener future. It also marks a significant milestone for Compaqpeat, which has developed over the last 18 years into a high-quality substrate producer.

Pindstrup Mosebrug A/S is expanding its operations with the acquisition of family-owned Compaqpeat. With the increased production capacity, Pindstrup will meet the continuously growing demand and further strengthen its market position. The investment also offers clear synergies for both companies. For Compaqpeat, joining forces with Pindstrup strengthens its foundation and opens new prospects for employees, customers, and partners.

Pindstrup is among the industry players that drive the development of more sustainable solutions, and the acquisition opens new possibilities to intensify the development of products based on renewable and circular raw materials. Compaqpeat produces peat-based substrates, including peat-reduced products. At the same time, Pindstrup’s extensive experience with alternative constituents such as self-produced wood fiber – its primary renewable raw material with a significantly lower CO footprint – will further support the development of even more sustainable solutions within Compaqpeat’s product range.

“Firstly, I wish to thank the previous owners and managers, Rasa and Johann Martens, for their dedication to creating Compaqpeat as a well-run, modern substrate company, and for their trust in Pindstrup as the new owners,” says René Gjerding, CEO of Pindstrup. “With the acquisition of Compaqpeat, Pindstrup is well-equipped to grow further and meet the increasing demand for growing media, which rises year by year due to the growing need to cultivate food and plants. A larger and stronger Pindstrup also means we have even better opportunities to develop innovative solutions based on renewable and circular raw materials, helping our customers achieve high yields in their greenhouses with lower resource consumption.”

“Compaqpeat has always been more than a business – it has been like a child to us,” says Rasa Martens, former CEO and co-owner of Compaqpeat. “Having grown the company over the last 18 years together with our dedicated employees, it was extremely important for Johann and me that Compaqpeat would continue in the right hands. We are confident that Pindstrup, as a family-owned company sharing our values and commitment to quality and sustainability, is the right choice. This change of ownership will bring benefits to our employees, clients, and partners, and we are very happy that Compaqpeat is entering this new chapter in the right hands.”

The Future of Pindstrup and Compaqpeat

The acquisition unites two family-owned companies that share common values, long-term commitment, and a focus on producing the highest quality substrates for professional growers. Both companies are strongly committed to sustainability, and the combination of Compaqpeat’s international growth with Pindstrup’s century-long expertise creates a partnership for the future.

Pindstrup has appointed a new management team of Compaqpeat. Edijs Ločmels and Uģis Veinbergs, who have both held management positions in Pindstrup Latvia for many years, will co-direct this new subsidiary. With this acquisition, Pindstrup now operates a total of three factories in Latvia.
