How Growscape Is Going All-in on Sustainable Pots

In April 2025, The HC Companies and Classic Home & Garden merged and united under a new brand: Growscape. Rooted in the brand idea of ‘growing together,’ Growscape represents a one-stop shop solution for horticulture growers, retailers, and distributors. The company combines eco-efficient U.S. manufacturing expertise in injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and blow molding for grow pots, decorative containers, and backyard décor, all complemented by a global sourcing network with a long-term, proven track record of delivering sustainably designed and manufactured products in a variety of materials to its partners.

Growscape aims to lead the industry in innovation through a new product development process, focused on delivering consistent breakthrough and exclusively sustainable innovations in both grow pot and decorative container categories.

In August, I was fortunate to tour Growscape’s manufacturing and shipping facility in Middlefield, OH. At the heart of the tour was ReTerra, Growscape’s first-of-its-kind plantable bioplastic solution engineered for greenhouse and nursery applications. ReTerra combined the functionality of traditional plastics with the environmental benefits of bioplastics. ReTerra pots can be produced from 4-inch to 1-gallon sizes, and are designed to be placed directly into the ground with the live plants.

ReTerra is the end result of Growscape’s EarthSafe Sustainability Platform, which brings together:

  • ReAssure, Growscape’s commitment to advancing leadership in supporting regulatory compliance, post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials and long-term sustainability
  • The expanded ReSource Recycling Program by Growscape
  • ReTerra, developed in exclusive partnership with Kaimarra Advanced Materials

Together, these three initiatives establish Growscape’s focus in regulatory compliance, recycling infrastructure, and patented, next-generation material science to fully meet the demands of today’s market and prepare its customers for what is coming next (you can find Growscape’s full 2026 Sustainability Report here.
