Hort Couture Pumped About Gerbera Glamorous
Hort Couture’s Glamorous gerberas, which will be on the market in 2011, made an appearance at OFA Short Course last week.
Bred by Marian Lekkerkerk at the Gerbera Factory in Holland, Hort Couture’s new gerbera offers a distinctive, “glamorous” look. Its glossy, heavily textured foliage results in excellent landscape durability and less susceptibility to insects, mildew, slugs and sun.
Glamorous is produced from seed, making it a cost effective input for the grower. There are four colors in the mix for 2011.
“This is a great new product for the IGC”, says Jim Monroe of Hort Couture. “Keeping new genetics in the independent channel is a hallmark of what our company is all about. The cooperation with Lekkerkerk is a great case study in being successful in this channel. Too many large breeding companies are bypassing the IGC.”
Available exclusively from C. Raker and Sons through Hort Couture, the plant is available for Spring 2011 from the Allied Wholesale Producers of Hort Couture. For more information on becoming an Allied Wholesale Grower, contact Hort Couture at 866-955-HORT or visit HortCouturePlants.com.
