Plantpeddler Honored with Ag Education Leadership Award

In honor of National Ag Day and Iowa Ag Week, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig hosted the 12th Annual Ag Leader Awards, on March 19. The event was held at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, IA, with more than 400 dignitaries, elected officials, farm industry leaders, and other invited guests.

Following remarks from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Secretary Naig, three organizations were honored for their contributions to Iowa agriculture. Plantpeddler of Cresco, IA, was recognized for Leadership in Agriculture Education. This award was based on years of supporting horticulture in schools, the Department of Horticulture at Iowa State University, and most recently for hosting the nation’s first “Educate the Educators” Ag Educators Workshop. A team at Plantpeddler, along with a cross-section of industry representatives, conducted a day long event to help train ag teachers about how to build, maintain, grow, and teach within greenhouses at their schools. The teachers received continuing education hours for participating in the workshop.
