AeroFarms Expects Sales to Skyrocket
AeroFarms is working up towards April, when it will launch a 90,000-square-foot vertical farm in Abu Dhabi. Sales are expected to skyrocket with its opening.
The company is also working on a new plan to help reduce food waste by investing in Precision Indoor Plants (PIP). They plan to investigate how to prevent lettuce discoloration.
AppHarvest is Entering the Tomato Market
AppHarvest recently harvested its first crop of tomatoes. The company’s goal is to help reduce the U.S.’s reliance on imports for its tomatoes.
Bowery Farms is Opening in Pennsylvania
Bowery is opening an operation in Bethlehem, PA, that is expected to bring 70 new jobs to the old steel town. The facility will use LED lighting and a recapture water system to limit its environmental footprint.
BrightFarms Expanding in All Major Markets and Creating New AI
BrightFarms is currently constructing operations in Maryland and North Carolina. This is part of the company’s big 2025 goal of expanding into several new markets.
BrightFarms is also working on releasing its new artificial intelligence system, Bright OS, which will use machine learning and data analytics to run operations more efficiently.
Gotham Greens is Coming to More Grocery Stores
Gotham Greens has worked to get its newest operation in Aurora, CO, up and running. They also were able to expand to Baltimore, MD.
In December, Gotham announced a $87 million funding round which will go to support products in Whole Foods Market, Albertsons Companies, Meijer, Target, King Soopers, Harris Teeter, ShopRite, and Sprouts.
