Learning Opportunity: Temperature Management Strategies for Greenhouse Production
American Floral Endowment‘s upcoming webinar, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026, as part of its ongoing Grow Pro series, will cover temperature management strategies for greenhouse growers. Topics of the webinar will include:
- How temperature strategies affect plant height, flowering time, crop quality, and heating energy costs
- Learning about key temperature concepts (ADT, DIF, crop-specific base and optimal temperatures)
- Real-world grower examples and university-backed temperature strategies
- Understanding how temperature drives plant growth and root and shoot development
The featured speaker for “Practical Temperature Management Strategies for Greenhouse Production” is Dr. Erik Runkle, a Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Horticulture at Michigan State University (MSU). There, he and his graduate research team continue to perform practical indoor greenhouse experiments to determine the effects of light, temperature, and other environmental factors on plant growth and development using a wide range of specialty crops (plug and liners, bedding annuals, leafy greens, etc.).
Willing participants can register for the webinar directly through Zoom or by visiting the Grow Pro Webinar series page on the AFE website, where information on future webinars in the series can be found. Recordings of all past Grow Pro webinars can also be found on the AFE’s YouTube channel.
