Today’s visits were a lot of fun, with breathtaking views of both California and incredible plants at the various Trials we toured.

This year, HGTV HOME Plant Collection will deliver more than $200 million in plants to the retail marketplace, which includes local garden centers, grocery stores and regional chains like Meijer and Menard’s, but not big box stores.

For the past four years, Vegetalis has presented container vegetable crops at Spring Trials, and while growers and retailers have been excited about Vegetalis’ offerings, there haven’t been enough sales. So this year, the company is working on a few new marketing concepts to bring Vegetalis’ considerable number of container veggies to retailers nationwide.

On the fourth day of trials, Greenhouse Grower editors visited several trials and saw hundreds of beautiful new varieties. Here are some of the highlights of the day.

Veggies were a big feature of the tour at Syngenta Flowers’ California Spring Trials stop, where Greenhouse Grower editors visited Monday. Jeanine Bogard, Syngenta’s business product manager, highlighted four types of veggie gardens that demonstrate how today’s consumers will likely use vegetables.
