Schubert Nursery is the recipient of ECGC’s 2009 Award of Distinction, which recognizes an interior plant grower for the most distinctive product and service in 2009.
Schubert Nursery has been growing a unique selection of handcrafted plants for over 40 years. The nursery specializes in a full selection of ivy topiary shapes, ferns and herbs. It has a warehouse operation in North Carolina that allows for better service to the East Coast.
The foliage buyers of all ECGC, a consortium and buying group of leading regional garden centers, perform an evaluation on each preferred vendor. The evaluation contains objective criteria and a graduated scale that evaluates product and customer service. Schubert Nursery received the highest score.
“We believe in partnerships with our vendors and in this spirit, we perform these evaluations and share the results. This process helps build strong long term relationships with our vendors,” says Kathy Scott, ECGC purchasing director.
The 11 independent garden centers that make up ECGC are: Al’s Garden Center, Armstrong Garden Centers, English Gardens, Green View Companies, Homestead Gardens, Mahoney’s Garden Centers, Martin Viette Nurseries, Southern Homes & Gardens, Molbak’s, McDonald Garden Centers and Pike Nurseries.
