Your Chance to Go Behind the Scenes at Scotts Miracle-Gro

3x-Harvest-Guarantee-from-Scotts Miracle-Gro and-Bonnie-featureOne of the ways that Cultivate attendees can make the most of their experience is by hopping on a bus for one of AmericanHort’s tours that kick off the four-day event on July 13.

One of the new additions to this year’s Cultivate tour schedule is a Research and Innovation Tour of Scotts Miracle-Gro, a world leader in consumer lawn and garden that was founded in the greater Columbus area. With more than 150 years of experience, more than 5,800 employees, and more than a dozen industry-leading brands, the Scotts Miracle-Gro mission is to help consumers express themselves on their own piece of the Earth. This is accomplished by providing innovative products and solutions to create beautiful and healthy lawns and gardens, while meeting consumers’ unique needs — whether it’s natural and organic solutions for indoor and urban gardening, or smart lawn irrigation.

The tour includes:
• An overview of R&D at Scotts Miracle-Gro, where they will learn about the science that is done to ensure best-in-class performance of the Scotts Miracle-Gro portfolio of retail lawn, garden, and control products.
• A closer look at the benefits of compost for consumer gardening. Amending soils with compost provides numerous benefits, but ensuring consistency among diverse compost feedstocks is a challenge. Attendees can learn about large-scale production and what to look for in a high-quality compost.
• A chance to get a better understanding of the challenges with using organic fertilizers, and how it is possible to grow organically without sacrificing performance.
• A focus on indoor gardening and how Scotts Miracle-Gro makes it easier for home gardeners to grow fresh herbs and vegetables year-round with hydroponics.
