Growscape Announces Expansion of Operations in Middlefield, OH

The HC Companies, Inc., doing business as Growscape, with dual headquarters in Twinsburg, OH, and Shelton, CT, announced plans to add 90 new positions at its Middlefield facility, while retaining 386 jobs. The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) approved the project for tax credit assistance during its Ohio Tax Credit Authority meeting.

In response to significant growth opportunities across key markets and increasing customer demand, Growscape plans to expand its workforce and production capacity and further strengthen its Operations Campus. The creation of new jobs supports the Middlefield plant’s move to continuous 24/7 operations in August. In addition, new jobs have been added to support a 750,000-square-foot warehouse operation which opened in October 2025.

“This expansion is about more than adding capacity — it’s about investing in the people and communities that have helped Growscape succeed,” says Ed Cooper, CEO of Growscape. “We’re proud to create new full-time jobs in Middlefield and committed to building pathways into meaningful careers. Growth means the most when everyone in our community can share in it.”

Through a partnership with the Village of Middlefield, Geauga Growth Partnership, ODOD, JobsOhio, and Team NEO, the economic development team was able to provide the resources to help support Growscape’s expansion.

“Growscape’s expansion in Geauga County is proof that Northeast Ohio’s manufacturing strength keeps attracting impactful investment,” says JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “As Growscape scales up production to meet growing demand from greenhouses, nurseries, and retail operations, its expansion is a strong vote of confidence in Ohio’s workforce and infrastructure.”

At the community level, the project brings new investment and employment opportunities for Geauga County and the Village of Middlefield.

“The Growscape manufacturing facility has been an important and contributing member of our community for more than three decades. They have grown tremendously over these years and expanded both physical footprint and workforce,” says Mayor Ben Garlich, Village of Middlefield. “I have seen firsthand that, as the company streamlined its operations, the Middlefield facility consistently emerged as the location of choice for expansion. It offered the most efficient, cost-effective option for manufacturing while positioning the company to best serve its customers. We are proud to partner with Growscape as they continue to expand, providing quality employment which benefits all aspects of our community. Middlefield Village is always aware of how blessed we are to be home to companies like Growscape.”

“Growscape’s growth in Middlefield is exactly what we want to see in Geauga County. Many of us still know it as HC Companies, and seeing that long-rooted company invest here, again, matters,” says Geauga Growth Partnership President and CEO Kimm Leininger. “Through Growscape’s expansion and work with Cardinal Schools, they are creating real opportunities with a path forward for local people. Geauga Growth Partnership is proud to be a partner in supporting that growth.”

The project demonstrates the impact of collaboration among local, regional, and state partners working together to support business growth and investment.

“Congratulations to Mayor Ben Garlich and the Village of Middlefield on the continued growth and expansion of Growscape,” says Matt Dolan, CEO of Team NEO. “This commitment is a testament to the strong partnership among our economic development partners. By working together, we’re creating the conditions that give companies the confidence to invest, grow, and create new opportunities right here in Northeast Ohio.”
