New Program Targets Leadership Development for Green Industry Women

Green Industry Women has opened registration for its new Leadership Lab, a year-long leadership development program designed to help women across the green industry build the skills, confidence, and connections they need to lead effectively. The program welcomes women who lead at every level — from crew leaders and supervisors to managers, executives, and business owners — as well as emerging leaders preparing for greater responsibility.

Companies can sponsor individual employees to participate in the Leadership Lab or bring the program in-house for their own teams, providing a practical, affordable way to invest in leadership development across their organizations.

Founded by executive coach and international keynote speaker Megan Taylor Morrison, Green Industry Women brings extensive experience supporting leaders from organizations across the horticulture and landscaping sectors, including Costa Farms, AmericanHort, Syngenta, DeGroot, Mahoney’s Garden Centers, Nufarm, and Eagle Lake Nurseries, among others. Morrison has also spoken at some of the industry’s leading conferences, including Cultivate, SiteOne’s Women in the Green Industry (WIGI) Conference, Northern Green, Landscape Ontario, and the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association (TNLA).

Launching Feb. 8, 2027, the Leadership Lab offers an affordable, practical alternative to traditional leadership training programs. Women working in landscaping, horticulture, garden centers, nurseries, and related sectors can access ongoing leadership education, live coaching, hands-on skill-building sessions, and a supportive professional community.

“Leadership development shouldn’t be reserved for executives or companies with large training budgets,” says Morrison. “There are talented women leading teams and driving results across this industry who deserve access to high-quality professional development. We created the Leadership Lab to make that possible.”

Practical Leadership Training Designed for the Green Industry

Unlike one-time workshops or traditional training programs, the Leadership Lab provides ongoing opportunities to learn, practice, and apply new leadership skills.

Each month, participants receive:

  • A focused leadership module featuring practical lessons, tools, and resources.
  • Live coaching and Q&A to address real workplace challenges.
  • An optional facilitated skill-building lab featuring experiential exercises that help participants put new skills into practice.
  • An ongoing professional community where women can exchange ideas, share experiences, and build relationships with peers across the industry.

Training topics include difficult conversations, delegation, accountability, time management, decision-making, navigating workplace dynamics, preventing burnout, and communicating with confidence.

The program is also designed to respond to participants’ evolving needs, with opportunities for members and sponsoring employers to help shape the leadership topics addressed throughout the year.

An Affordable Investment in Employee Development

For green industry businesses seeking to strengthen their leadership pipelines, the Leadership Lab offers a way to provide ongoing professional development without creating an internal training program from scratch.

Companies can sponsor one or multiple employees, making the program accessible to organizations of different sizes.

“Great leadership has an enormous impact on employee engagement, retention, communication, and business performance,” says Morrison. “Our goal is to give companies a simple, affordable way to invest in their people, as well as to give women the tools and support to become the leaders they want to be.”

The program is designed to accommodate busy professional schedules, with recorded coaching sessions and flexible learning resources that participants can access alongside their daily responsibilities.
