Southeast Greenhouse Conference Is Rebranded

The Southeast Greenhouse Conference has rebranded to the Southeast Color Connection. The event will still be held in June next year–June 16-18–and it remains in Greenville, S.C. The event has been refocused and reenergized to better meet the needs of growers, garden center retailers and others who annually attend.

“We are committed to serving the horticulture industry in the Southeast, and the name change better showcases what the event is and can be moving forward,” says Willis Bruce, president of the organization.

The trade show has been moved to a Thursday-Friday next year. Traditionally, part of the trade show occurred on a weekend.

The show also has new hours dedicated. Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 17 and 18, the trade show will be the sole focus of the three-day event.

Foolish. Attendance is down everywhere. It’s not because of the show’s name. It’s because the anti-capitalists have taken control of the country. The solution is not to change the name of the show, which will probably hurt the attendance due to lack of recognition. The solution is to vote liberal neoCommunist Democrats and big govt. loving, wishy washy, non-conservative Republicans (e.g., Lindsay Graham) out of office and impeach the Constitution ignoring community organizer in chief. Like it or not, if you want to save your business and this country, there is only one solution. Return to our conservative roots.

Give each vendor 10 free tickets to give to their customers to come to the show. Put the classes at different times than the show or have a long time space between the classes. Have a give a way at the end of the show. The name change is not good, especially for nursery growers who do not do color.

Reality check — how much money/time was spent “branding” an industry conference? Have the taxonomists become advertising/PR reps? Pencil-pushers have their place, and it is not anywhere near those who want/need ideas that will foster success at the storefront level. Stop wasting brain cells & focus on the actual well-being of the industry, not the IMAGE of well-being. Many of the nation’s best hort companies do not even focus on or break even with short-term color.

The name change means very little. But I really like the change in the hours. Allowing interested parties to focus their attention on the floor of the show without having to feel they might be missing something in a seminar.
Ranting about “conservative” values (an oxymoron at best)serves no purpose other than to ask. Did you forget to take your meds again?
