Syngenta Professional Solutions (SPS) has announced that Scott Reasons, Head of Syngenta Professional Solutions North America, will retire effective May 31, 2026, concluding a 40-year career with Syngenta and its legacy companies. Dave Ravel, currently Head of Sales for Syngenta Professional Solutions, will assume the role, effective June 1, 2026.

“Scott’s legacy of leadership, passion for winning, and commitment to our people and customers has shaped Syngenta Professional Solutions into the leader it is today,” says Simon Elsworth, Global Head of Syngenta Professional Solutions. “Over the past 16 years, Scott has led extraordinary growth, built a strong and enduring culture, and positioned SPS as the partner of choice across our professional markets. At the same time, I am excited for Dave to step into this role. His deep understanding of our customers, his commercial leadership, and his ability to inspire teams make him the right leader to continue our momentum and lead SPS into its next chapter. Dave’s commitment to this business is unparalleled. He constantly pushes us all to be better for our customers and distributor partners, and that drive will be invaluable as we move forward.”

During his 16-year tenure leading SPS, Reasons oversaw a period of growth, with the business nearly tripling in size across the Americas. Reasons began his career with the company in 1986 and held leadership roles across sales, sales management, and marketing before assuming leadership of the Professional Solutions business.

Ravel brings more than 30 years of experience within the turf, ornamental, and pest management industries and has spent more than 25 years with Syngenta and legacy companies, having held leadership roles across sales, marketing, and key accounts. Since becoming Head of Sales in 2012, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening customer relationships, advancing the Syngenta solutions-based approach, and supporting growth across golf, lawn care, ornamentals, and professional pest management.

As a result of Scott’s efforts, SPS is exceptionally well-positioned today, and we will ensure business continuity for our customers as we move forward.”

“What excites me the most is where we’re headed,” Ravel continues. “With our recent new product introductions, including those powered by PLINAZOLIN® technology, Syngenta is uniquely positioned to help customers solve today’s challenges while preparing for what’s next. Our science, our people, and our partnerships set us apart, and I’m excited to work alongside our team to continue delivering true innovation and driving growth across our professional markets. There is no place I would rather be.”

A Q&A with Dave Ravel

Recently, Greenhouse Grower had the opportunity for a Q&A with the incoming Head of Syngenta Professional Solutions North America. Here’s what was discussed:

Greenhouse Grower: How did your previous experience prepare you for this new role?

I’ve been involved in the ornamentals industry since 1997, which has given me nearly 30 years of perspective on how the market has evolved. In my former role as head of sales for Syngenta Professional Solutions in North America, I worked closely with ornamental growers and distribution partners to help bring value to the market, and that’s given me a strong understanding of our customers and what they need. I’ve also been involved in the launch of numerous new products and solutions — including our latest introductions, Vykenda® insecticide/miticide and Trefinti® nematicide/fungicide — and I’m invested in our ongoing research and development commitments to this industry.

GG: What are some of the biggest issues or concerns you’ve heard from the growers you work with, and how do you plan to help them deal with these issues?

The decisions we make at Syngenta always start with the grower first. We evaluate their needs and concerns, such as operational costs, pest challenges, and labor shortages, which help us identify opportunities to support them with new products or technologies. In that spirit, Syngenta is pleased to have a strong research and development pipeline that produces true innovations to help meet growers’ challenges, such as the new active ingredients in Vykenda and Trefiniti that were recently introduced.

GG: What are the biggest challenges this industry is currently facing? Conversely, what are some of the biggest opportunities on the horizon?

This industry is facing multiple challenges, including overall economic uncertainty, fueled by inflation and increased labor costs. These challenges force growers and our industry as a whole to constantly evaluate their decision-making in every aspect of their business.

I see some of the biggest opportunities for growers coming from the way Syngenta continues to invest in digital tools and data-driven insights that help growers make better, more confident decisions. I’m excited about the new products and technologies we’ll be introducing in the near future to help growers address ongoing challenges. Ultimately, the opportunity is to keep combining innovation and practical support in a way that helps growers run more profitable businesses.

GG: Looking ahead, what role can you play in moving this industry forward?

I’ll ensure customer-centric decision-making remains at the forefront of everything we do, which will help our priorities stay aligned with what growers need most. I am also committed to driving meaningful innovation across products and new technologies to help improve outcomes in the industry. Lastly — but just as importantly — I’ll focus on maintaining the strength of our field and technical team, so customers have the local support they need to be most successful.

GG: If you weren’t in this profession, what would you be doing?

I would likely have pursued a career as a teacher, drawing on my experience earning a college degree in environmental science for K-12 education. I could see myself returning to the classroom at some point in the future. Otherwise, I’ve always thought being a sports broadcaster would be exciting!
