University of Florida to Offer Greenhouse 101 Course for 2021

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences (IFAS) Extension will be offering its Greenhouse 101 course for 2021 with the goal of helping educate new greenhouse and nursery workers.

The course is designed for people with no formal training or background in horticulture who currently work in a greenhouse or nursery. Topics such as plant parts and functions, photosynthesis and growth, greenhouse technology, flowering, compactness and branching, irrigation, nutrition, and plant health will make up the course curriculum.

The course runs from May 31 to June 25, 2021.

The course is completely online and includes pre-recorded videos, an interactive discussion board with professors, and quizzes. The course material is available any time of the day, and two new modules are activated each week during the course for a total of eight learning modules.

Courses are also available in both English and Spanish.
