Information Is Power

With so many factors going into selecting the right plant growth regulators (PGRs) including temperature, amount of growth control needed and application method, it can be difficult to choose the right method.

With its launch of Paczol in late fall 2005, Chemtura created the PGRx Prescription Growth Control program, which offers solutions to the growth control needs of virtually all ornamental plants grown today.

“With the new PGRx program, growers will have access to the most extensive, first-hand use and rate information on the market, plus it will continue to generate new PGR information for growers to put into practical use in their programs.” says Steve Jedrzejek, Chemtura’s commercial manager, specialty products.

This first-hand use and rate information is the result of Chemtura’s investment in in-house and university trials involving PGRs, plus practical use in the field. By conducting trials at key commercial grower locations, Dave Barcel, a 10-year Chemtura veteran and technical sales support representative for the company’s western region, is able to provide growers with first-hand information on how Paczol or B-Nine will affect their crop.

With Chemtura’s support, Jim Barrett is using Paczol to test the PGR’s performance in new types of applications, such as plug soaks and liner dips. “There are several new and different application techniques,” he says. “Growers need to know about these techniques and what rates to use with them.”
