Quarantine In Effect For Oklahoma, Tennessee Counties

Twelve counties in Oklahoma and three counties in Tennessee are quarantined for Imported Fire Ants (IFA).

The counties entirely affected in Oklahoma are Atoka, Coal, Cotton, Garvin, Jackson, Jefferson, LeFlore, Murray, Pontotoc, Pushmataha and Stephens. The counties entirely affected in Tennessee are Coffee, Marshall and Maury. Portions of Cumberland, Humphreys, Sevier, White and Williamson are infested, as well.

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) implemented the quarantine in response to surveys indicating the existence of established populations of IFA. All of the counties mentioned are quarantined, regardless of whether the infestation impacts all or part of the counties.
