National Association of Cannabis Businesses Adopts Standards for Indoor Cultivation

The National Association of Cannabis Businesses (NACB), one of the first self-regulatory organizations in the cannabis industry, announced it has adopted its National Standards on Indoor Cultivation.

“Our aim with the Indoor Cultivation National Standards is to help licensed growers adopt best practices for efficient and sanitary indoor cultivation that will ensure a healthy and safe consumer experience,” says Gina Kranwinkel, President and CEO of NACB.

The Indoor Cultivation Standards are the latest in a series of national standards NACB is developing. It aims to ensure players in the cannabis market are operating safely, ethically, and responsibly. NACB reports it uses a deliberative and inclusive process that asks for input from subject matter experts, government agencies, and NACB members.

The Indoor Cultivation Standards outline the best practices for indoor cannabis production from cultivation to business operations. The topics covered include, but are not limited to, licensing requirements, company standard operating procedures (SOPs), genetics, insect and disease control, inventory management, and product storage.

Every NACB standard is reviewed by NACB members and adopted through a member vote. Previously adopted standards have aimed to provide guidance on advertising, packaging, labeling, lab testing, cybersecurity, and more.
