Canada’s Plants Love You Campaign Educates Consumers About Benefits Of Plants

COHA is an alliance between three prominent horticulture organizations — the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, la Fédération Interdisciplinaire de l’Horticulture Ornementale du Québec and Flowers Canada Growers.

In 2012, COHA surveyed Canadian consumers and discovered a 96 percent favorable attitude toward plants. Among those surveyed, 87 percent agreed with the statement that “plants make me feel good” and 89 percent agreed with the statement that “plants make my neighborhood/municipality better.”

With this already positive perception of plants, the COHA wanted consumers to be more aware of the documented health, environmental and economic plant benefits.

COHA developed the Plants Love You slogan as a horticulture industry wide platform to educate Canadians about the importance plants have in their lives.

Part of the Plants Love You campaign includes a website, PlantsLoveYou.ca, which was designed to give association members a source for educational content about plant benefits, and a way for consumers to access that information in a credible, non-commercial way, says Frank Zaunscherb of Zaunscherb Roberts Blair, a marketing firm that helped develop the site and campaign.
