Suntory Flowers Granted Patents for Orange and Yellow Mandevillas

Suntory Flowers has been granted patent protections for plants and breeding methods of mandevilla hybrids with distinct pigments that create orange and yellow tones.

In the U.S., the following Sun Parasol varieties are included in the scope of claims:

  • Sun Parasol Apricot
  • Sun Parasol Original Sunbeam
  • Sun Parasol Giant Peach Sunrise
  • A new upright variety that will be introduced during the Tropical Plant International Expo (TPIE) this month.

Two additional protected varieties are licensed to Fernlea Flowers and marketed as Calypso Limone and Samba Coral Pinwheel.
