Flower Growers Overseas Are Also Dealing With Coronavirus

Royal FloraHollandControlled-environment growers in the U.S. are taking every step they can to keep the ornamentals supply chain moving in the wake of the coronavirus. But how are growers around the world dealing with it? 

Our friends at Holland-based FloralDaily recently provided an update from producers such as Royal FloraHolland (which has launched its own live daily updates) and tulip grower Pronk Tulpen BV, each of which has unfortunately had to destroy some plants because there are no buyers.

Some growers are intentionally reducing their crop size this year. The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) is also involved in the crisis measures surrounding the coronavirus and has informed Royal FloraHolland and other industry leaders about the impact and the consequences of the coronavirus on the Dutch and international horticultural market.
