Hort Couture’s Jim Monroe Joins Eason as Sales Specialist

Jim Monroe of Hort Couture Plants has joined Eason Horticultural Resources (EHR) as an independent sales specialist covering selected grower and retail accounts in various parts of the US. Monroe is an experienced plantsman that will work in conjunction with EHR sales reps and their customers, as well as building new business using his vast experience with nursery, perennial, and annual products. Monroe has extensive knowledge in developing supply chains for offshore cuttings and plug and liner programs that can benefit growers of all sizes. He will continue in his roles of promoting and developing the Hort Couture brand.

“EHR has been such a wonderful supporter of Hort Couture and the marketplace,” Monroe says. “I am excited to be a part of creating opportunities to make our industry stronger.”

Bailey Has a New Eastern Region Sales Manager

Bailey has announced that Jimmy Kuon has been promoted to Regional Sales Manager, overseeing sales representatives covering the eastern part of the U.S. and Canada. Kuon has worked in sales on the East Coast at Bailey for nearly 20 years, making him well-poised to move into this new role.

“Jimmy is a strategic thinker that has extensive experience in wholesale sales, the Bailey organization, and our customers’ businesses, and the various distribution channels in our industry,” says Bailey Sales & Marketing Director Marc McCormack. “Additionally, Jimmy has a deep knowledge of plants that carries through all of our product lines of bareroot, liners, and containers perennials, trees, and shrubs that will be a great support for the sales team and their customers.”

In addition to his tenure at Bailey, Kuon has management experience in both wholesale and retail companies. He has a proven track record of ensuring best-in-class service and customer satisfaction, which will be carried through in ongoing coaching with his team of Bailey Sales Representatives.

Sakata Seed America Names Industry Vet Robb Bertels as Retail Category Manager

Robb Bertels is the new Retail Category Manager at Sakata Seed America. With nearly 30 years of experience in the industry, Bertels brings a robust background to the position which allows Sakata to better serve and connect with retail and foodservice sectors and their unique needs.

Bertels joins the team just in time for Sakata’s annual California Field Days event, which invites seed dealers, grower/shippers, retail buyers, and other industry professionals to Sakata’s Woodland and Salinas facilities to showcase innovative breeding efforts and top products.

‘I’m very excited about working at Sakata,” Bertels says. “The company has a long history in seed production in the Americas, as well as globally. What attracted me to the company is its reputation as a high-quality organization with great products, an outstanding culture and exceptional people.”

Robb will be responsible for connecting new Sakata product development and trends to retail partners by communicating the downstream benefits of top Sakata products for retail sector. This includes the company’s Infinite Gold cantaloupe and specialty tomato programs, which both focus on flavor as a key component.

Peter Haakman Joins Dramm as an Irrigation Specialist

Peter Haakman is a new Irrigation and Sales Specialist for Dramm, operating out of the company’s Canadian office.

Haakman has more than 35 years of greenhouse experience, starting as a grower in his own operation and in distribution sales. As an owner of Haakman Greenhouses, Peter managed day-to-day operations, production, and facility maintenance for a 6.5-acre seedless cucumber greenhouse in Fenwick, Ontario. After the sale of his business, he worked in greenhouse distribution sales in the Niagara Peninsula, working with customers to fulfill their supply needs for the past 10 years.

Haakman’s responsibilities will center on system design, where he will work with growers to optimize their irrigation, air movement, and water management systems. His addition to the Dramm team will add capacity to the company’s growing water management capabilities.
