American Farms, a national wholesale grower of annuals, perennials, specialty plants, and holiday plants, has taken over operations of Hoffmann Heimos Greenhouses. The two operations are owned by Hoffmann Family of Companies (HF Companies), which acquired American Farms in 2021 and Heimos in 2025.

Heimos will now operate as American Farms – Midwest. John Hardiman, CEO of American Farms, will lead both locations and split his time between Millstadt, IL, and Naples, FL.

“John and his team have built a deeply respected business at American Farms, and we’re confident this is the right path forward for both operations,” says David Hoffmann, Founder & Chairman of HF Companies.

With locations in both the Midwest and Southwest Florida, American Farms can reach more of the country and grow year-round, supplying garden centers, retailers, and landscape professionals across more regions. With the two operations combined, American Farms will operate nearly 3.7 million square feet of environmentally controlled growing space. That footprint would place the company among the top 15 producers in Greenhouse Grower’s Top 100 Growers ranking.

“I’m honored to lead American Farms – Midwest into its next chapter,” Hardiman says. “Our combined entities can offer our partners more variety and more reliability year-round. I’m excited to grow the business with the Hoffmann family.”

HF Companies’ Agriculture vertical is one of the firm’s fastest-growing. It produces herbs, wine, fresh plants, flowers, golf products, and dairy products, and the family’s holdings cover close to 5,500 acres, including:

  • Pacific Plug & Liner
  • Smith Gardens
  • American Farms
  • Kaleidoscope Florist
  • American Farms – Midwest
  • World Wide Farms (Meyer Farms)
