New Protein Surfactant Could Help Cannabis Growers Boost Yields, Quality

Verano Thrivedo protein surfactantA new yeast-based protein surfactant could help medicinal cannabis growers achieve improved yields and higher quality product.

In a third-party trial with a commercial grower in Florida, the use of Thrivedo, according to its manufacturer Verano365, netted a 20:1 return on investment by producing a 31% increase in average bud yield.

Thrivedo features Verano365’s proprietary delivery technology, OpusMAX. In the trial, the product was utilized at 10 milliliters per gallon in eight treatments over the course of 12 weeks on cannabis sativa varietal ‘Gorilla Cookies’.

“In the Florida medicinal grower trial, we partnered with an operator that already had a top-notch fertilization program in place, and we wanted to see if we could take their yields to the next level,” says David Coorts, Technical Director for Verano365. “We saw not only increased bud yield, but also improved terpenes and other quality factors.”

The trial pitted the grower’s standard program against a program that added Thrivedo to the mix. Two benches of 17 plants each were harvested and sent to Kaycha Labs in Florida for analysis. The report showed the Thrivedo-treated plants gained 8.7% in terpenes, bumped up total THC by 8.8%, had a 6% boost in total CBD, and improved cannabinoids by 8.7% as compared to the control group.

Brian, Maybe true, but it needs to be verified by UFL or another research institution. 17 plants is hardly a valid trial . Otherwise it is an advert and you should identify it as such.

Hi, Dr. Meneley.
The Verano365 team appreciates your comments and we wanted to offer a little more clarity on the trial mentioned in this article. We agree that research partners are critical to product performance validation and we wanted to share that Thrivedo has been validated by university and third-party testing with institutions like The Ohio State, Green Search, Inc., GLC, Syntech Research, and others. The medicinal cannabis trial mentioned in this article consisted of 136 plants in total, 68 control plants and 68 test plants. The snapshot results of 17 plants per bench was the treatment rate coupled with the number of applications that we determined would be the best ROI for the growers. The entire trial evaluated different application rates coupled with different number of applications and it’s noteworthy to mention that all treated groups responded positively with the lowest return being a 9% increase in bud weight and a 6.04% increase in THC. We are continuing trials with medicinal cannabis growers. If you want to connect to discuss in more depth, we’re happy to visit with you: [email protected].
