University of Florida Offers New Online Greenhouse 101 Course

Revol Greenhouse 101The University of Florida (UF) Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences is offering an online greenhouse training course this summer  designed to help you and your staff make better crop management decisions by learning the underlying horticultural science of plant growth. The “Greenhouse 101” course is the introduction to a broader greenhouse training being offered by UF. It is designed for people with no formal training in horticulture who work in the greenhouse or nursery industry. The course is offered in English and Spanish.

  • Topics to be covered include:
  • Plant parts and functions
  • Greenhouse technology
  • Flowering
  • Branching and thinning
  • Irrigation
  • Nutrition and plant health

The course runs from June 1-26 and includes a personalized certificate of completion. Over four weeks, there are streaming video lessons, readings, and assignments (about two hours total commitment per week), which can be accessed at any time of day. Experienced university instructors are available for help and interactive discussions.
