Does Your Greenhouse Use Propane? If So, You Might Be Eligible for Funding

For a limited time, growers directly impacted by the 2020 California wildfires can apply for a Propane Farm Incentive Program and earn double the incentive amount for qualifying propane-powered equipment — including industrial engines, power generators, water heating systems, greenhouse heating systems, flame-weeding systems, and agronomic heat treating.

The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is offering double incentives of up to $10,000 toward eligible propane-powered equipment for such operations.

“This has been a difficult year for many, and we recognize the additional toll these devastating wildfires can take on producers who have lost so much,” says Michael Newland, Director of Agriculture Business Development at PERC. “We hope that by offering this additional funding, we can do a small part to assist them with these setbacks and the recovery efforts from this natural disaster.”

For eligible applicants, the new doubled incentive amounts for qualifying equipment would include $600 per liter of engine displacement for propane-powered irrigation engines, up to $60 per kilowatt for generators, $3,000 for flame-weeding systems, and $4,000 for agricultural heaters.

A limited number of the double incentives are available, so PERC encourages interested producers to apply now by visiting Propane.com/Farm-Incentive. To take advantage of the double incentive, qualifying producers must simply check “YES” to the question on the online application that reads: “Was your operation directly impacted by the 2020 California wildfires?”
