IUNU kicked off its presence at GreenTech Amsterdam this week with the launch of Intelligent Setpoint Control for LUNA AI, which “puts the plant in the driver’s seat.” By pairing climate data with comprehensive plant performance data using computer vision, LUNA AI provides growers with ideal crop strategies and executes the selected strategy autonomously.

According to IUNU, Intelligent Setpoint Control for LUNA AI is the only closed-loop AI system for autonomous climate control in horticulture. Using computer vision, the crop strategies take into account how a crop is performing real-time and make adjustments to focus on driving the desired outcome.

“We’re thrilled to launch Intelligent Setpoint Control for LUNA AI. It’s a product we’ve been working on for a long time and drives meaningful value for greenhouse operators,” says Yoeri van der Laan, Program Manager for the product at IUNU. “Climate control is a critical function of operating a profitable greenhouse, and autonomous control gives operators the most leverage for scaling profitable operations.”

“To date, automating climate control has only been possible using minimal, manually collected data and climate data. Now, with Intelligent Setpoint Control, that’s changed. We use real data, comprehensively and autonomously collected, and pair that with testing done on real plants and in digital simulations,” says Ramón Melón, Head Grower at IUNU.

With Intelligent Setpoint Control for LUNA AI, growers can focus on optimizing profitability daily. The product simulates crop strategies based on crop plan and yield targets, creates crop strategies based on best simulated outcomes, executes a three-day forward crop strategy, and autonomously controls climate setpoints.

“BrightFarms focuses on partnering with top technology providers like IUNU to achieve best-in-class efficiency, consistency, and returns from our greenhouses,” says Matt Lingard, Senior Vice President of Agriculture and Science at BrightFarms. “By using IUNU’s LUNA AI technology, we are able to more effectively monitor our growing inputs and drive insights that improve how growers manage our crops. As our partnership continues, we are excited by the prospect of leveraging LUNA AI to close the crop/climate feedback loop and enable autonomous climate control.”

LUNA AI continuously monitors plant performance using computer vision real-time. This allows Intelligent Setpoint Control to adjust its performance real-time based on that plant performance. This feedback loop outperforms algorithmic control and enables growers to optimize for profitability on a daily basis.

Demand for IUNU’s closed-loop autonomous climate control product has been high. The company will be opening additional opportunities for greenhouse lettuce growers in the coming months.

Growers can learn more about Intelligent Setpoint Control for LUNA AI and IUNU’s full product suite at GreenTech this week.
