How a Few Horticulture Companies Are Welcoming New Leadership

Four companies have recently hired and promoted their next wave of leadership.

Bailey

Bailey has promoted several new executives.

Jason Bizon is the new West Coast General Manager, and Ryan McEnaney is the new Marketing & Communications Manager. Tiffany Nohl is now an Inside Sales Manager, and Lisa Swast will take over as a Brand and Licensing Sales Representative.

“After a series of retirements and promotions in recent months, we have been able to engage some of our next generation of leaders at Bailey and give them the opportunity to take on more responsibility,” says Bailey CEO Terri McEnaney. “Finding the best-fit candidate internally is exciting, and we are thrilled that these talented employees have stepped up to the challenge.”

Hoffman Nursery

Hoffman Nursery promoted Trevor Stark to Production and Propagation Supervisor.

Starting as a seasonal worker and later becoming an intern while completing his degree from North Carolina State University, Stark got to know the teams and make contributions to the nursery.

“[Stark] has played a key role in our Growing Department for more than three years. He’s been on the receiving end of the production process and knows what issues to keep an eye on,” says David Hoffman, Senior Director of Sales and Operations for Hoffman Nursery. “He understands what is needed to produce a high-quality crop of grasses.”

J. Berry Nursery

J. Berry Nursery has brought on Jesse Hensen as its Hollywood Hibiscus Supply Chain Manager.

Hensen has 40 years of experience in horticulture industry as well as experience with customer service and vendor relations.

“Our team is fortunate to have Jesse’s experience in the horticulture industry,” says Jim Berry, Co-Owner and Founder of J. Berry Nursery. “He’s well-known and well-respected in the industry, having worked in all areas, from growing to sales, marketing, and distribution. He’ll provide great support both to the company and to our partners.”

Pleasant View Gardens

Pleasant View Gardens welcomed Scott Parisi as the company’s new Finished Goods Product Manager.

Parisi is an MA-certified Horticulturist and Arborist. He will be responsible for guiding the direction of the finished goods segment of Pleasant View Gardens’ business.

“We’re thrilled to bring such a young talent to our team”, says Andy Huntington, National Sales Manager at Pleasant View Gardens. “[Parisi] came in the door with some really novel ideas that we think will help us evolve our liner business and even reshape our approach for the future.”

Verano365

Herb Rabalais has recently been promoted to President of Verano365, an Argyle, TX-based company that provides specialty horticulture innovations for greenhouse, nursery. and hydroponic management.

Rabalais takes reigns as President from John Appel, who will focus on his duties as President of BPS Agriculture. A Louisiana state licensed horticulturist, Rabalais will serve as a trusted advisor to growers who are adopting the company’s solutions. Since March 2020, the company has launched three products to address grower needs and will continue to focus on industry adoption as well as bringing new products to market.

“Our Verano365 portfolio of products has ramped up at a rapid pace over the last 12 months,” Rabalais says. “In the coming year, we’ll continue to focus on industry adoption as well as research and development to bring new products to market. I’m honored to usher in this next phase of growth for the company and our team; but more importantly, I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with our customers every day.”

Eason Horticultural Resources

Eason Horticultural Resources (EHR) welcomes Mike Pezzillo as its new Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.

As VP & COO, Pezzillo will lead nursery operations and work in conjunction with EHR’s Plants Division. He comes to EHR with decades of experience in nursery management and leadership positions. His extensive experience in the brokerage business will allow him to smoothly transition into the EHR team. Prior to joining EHR, he worked in various roles over the course of 26 years with McHutchison, most recently as Vice President of itsnursery division. Pezzillo is an alumnus of Cornell University with a BS in plant science and holds an MBA in finance from Montclair State University.
