Flores El Capiro S.A., a greenhouse grower in Colombia, took home the top prize this week from the International Association of Horticultural Producers when it was named International Grower of the Year 2017 during a dinner at IPM Essen in Germany.
According to Grimm, Greenhouse Grower’s 2016 Head Grower Of The Year, the key to being a successful grower is educating and inspiring yourself, your staff, your customers, and the next generation of growers.
“This award is about 28 years of dedicated work by our entire team, said Steve Castorani of North Creek in accepting the award, which was presented during Greenhouse Grower’s Evening of Excellence program.
“We should all be proud of what we do, and we need to keep this passion and drive alive in the next generation of growers,” said Grimm in accepting the award, which was presented during Greenhouse Grower’s Evening of Excellence program.
Vic Frey, a finalist for the 2016 Head Grower of the Year and recipient of the 2016 Excellence In Production award, was always willing to trial and experiment with the latest technology. He loved the constant change in this industry, and turned every opportunity into a teaching moment.
Grimm, winner of Greenhouse Grower’s Excellence in Outreach and Leadership award, is always willing to listen, continuously learn, and improve. He is a role model and empowers his employees to strive for excellence.
