GGS Structures Inc. Outfitted With Google Glass
GGS Structures Inc. has been chosen by Google to test its new Google Glass device, a wearable computer that projects a screen in front of the user’s eye. Google Glass is currently in prototype stages and is not yet available to the general public.
“We are very excited to get our hands on Google Glass,” says Michael Camplin, sales manager at GGS. “As a greenhouse manufacturer that regularly uses advanced technology to automate greenhouse processes, we see a lot of potential applications for this device in the greenhouse.”
GGS has written articles and blog posts on the future of the greenhouse industry and how devices like Google Glass will help growers increase efficiency in their operations and reduce costs.
“We are always looking for ways we can help greenhouse growers achieve their business goals,” says Leigh Coulter, president of GGS. “Now that we have Google Glass in our hands, a yet unreleased device, we are very interested in utilizing this technology to better serve our customers.”
GGS plans to first test this device extensively and look for ways that growers can use Google Glass in their day-to-day processes. The company is also looking at the possibilities of using the device in its manufacturing plant to simplify tasks and increase accuracy and efficiency in production.
GGS wants to know if growers are interested in the possibilities that Google Glass bring, and what growers would use this new device for in their greenhouses. The company will also be posting initial impressions and possible uses for Google Glass – join in the discussion at www.ggs-greenhouse.com/future or in the comments below.
